ROCKFORD, Ill. - In their final home game before the holidays, the Rockford College Regents cruised to an impressive 85-55 victory Saturday at the Seaver Center. The Regents jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead off a layup from senior forward Grant Olsen (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb). Blackburn would rally to keep it close as the Regents would head into the half with a 34-28 lead.
The Regents would own the second half as they opened with an 11-0 run capped off by a layup from junior forward Tory Minnifield (Blue Island, Ill./Eisenhower) with 15:59 remaining in the half. The Regents shot 66.7% from the field in the second half while holding Blackburn to just 30.3%. Saturday's victory was the Regents 4th win in their last 5 games.
The Regents were led once again by junior guard Scott Suchy (Genoa, Ill./Genoa-Kingston). Suchy scored a game-high 16 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Regent newcomer David Dixon (Bellwood, Ill./St. Joseph) came off the bench to score 14 points with 7 rebounds. Minnifield and senior forward Sam Chones (Milwaukee, Wis./Riverside) each scored 10 points in the victory.
The Regents will host Millikin Unversity on Saturday, December 29. Tip off is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Seaver Center.
