Volleyball Drops Two at UW-Whitewater Triangular

WHITEWATER, Wis. - For the third straight season the Regents traveled to up into Wisconsin to take part in a triangular hosted by the University of Wisconsin Whitewater Warhawks. Rockford was scheduled to play two games on Thursday with the first coming against #10 ranked UW-Whitewater and the second against Carroll University. It turned out to be a difficult day for the Regents as they lost both matches in straight sets.

Despite the losses, Rockford got good individual performances out some of its players. Senior Jossilyn Jones (Rockford, Ill./Guilford), fresh off her All-Tournament selection this past weekend, was a force defensively for the Regents. Jones recorded a team-high 25 digs on Thursday bringing her season total to 120. Nicole Lawler (Pearl City, Ill./Pearl City) and Laina Scheri (Cortland, Ill./Dekalb) each recorded double-digit kills at the Triangular. Lawler finished the day with 13 kills, 10 digs and 1 service ace. Scheri also recorded 13 kills but had 21 digs and 1 block assist for the Regents.

The women's volleyball team returns to Northern Athletics Conference play on Thursday, September 13th when they welcome the Maranatha Baptist Bible College Crusaders to the Seaver Center. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
