ROCKFORD, Ill. - After dropping four in a row, the Regents were looking to find their winning ways as they hosted Milwaukee School of Engineering Saturday at the Seaver Center. MSOE jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Rockford got on the board with a layup from senior forward Grant Olsen (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb). It would be a tight 1st half with neither team leading by more then five as the Regents entered halftime up 27-26.
The Regents would start the half on a 7-0 run off a pair of jump shots by junior forward Tory Minnifield (Blue Island, Ill./Esienhower) and a 3-pointer by Olsen. MSOE then responded with a 12-0 run of their own to take a 38-34 lead. Rockford kept it close until MSOE went on a 15-5 run during the last five minutes to upend the Regents 64-53.
Minnifield led the Regents with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Olsen added 15 points and 6 rebounds before fouling out with 30 seconds remaining. Junior forward David Dixon (Bellwood, Ill./St. Joseph) came off the bench for the Regents to add 10 points and 3 assists.
The Regents next game will be Jan. 15 as they host Dominican University. Tipoff is set for 7:00 PM.
