ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University women's basketball team returned to action Saturday to take on Lakeland College in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup at the Seaver Center. The Regents took it to the Muskies in the first quarter, before faltering in the final three quarters losing by a final of 88-62.
Rockford and Lakeland traded baskets throughout the first quarter until Amanda Davis (Mundelein, Ill.) connected on consecutive three-point shots to give the Regents the 21-18 lead at the end of the quarter. The Regents forced 6 turnovers and shot the ball over 47% in the first quarter. Unfortunately Rockford stumbled the rest of the way and could not regain their footing falling behind 41-26 at the half and ultimately losing by the final of 88-62.
The Regents were led by Mallorie Getzelman (Byron, Ill.) scoring 15 points with 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Taylor Davis (Mundelein, Ill.) scored in double-figures for the second consecutive game with 14 points. Amanda Davis and Casey Pettit (Rockford, Ill.) each added 11 points for the Regents.
The Rockford University women's basketball team returns to action Wednesday, January 6 to take on Concordia University Chicago in River Forest, Ill. with a scheduled start time of 7:15 p.m.
