MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University women's basketball team (2-14, 0-11 NACC) fell 67-35 on the road Saturday evening to the Alverno College Inferno (3-12, 3-7 NACC). Rockford struggled to get anything going on the offensive end of the court. The Regents shot just 25.9% (14-of-54) from the floor, while the Inferno connected on 49.2% (29-of-59) of their shot attempts. The hot shooting by the Inferno allowed them to control nearly the entire game, as Alverno led for 37:11 en route to the win.
- Rockford jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after scoring on the first possession of the game. Jazsmin Blue connected on a layup and was assisted by Katlyn Fiorucci.
- Alverno promptly responded with a 10-0 run and took a 10-2 advantage with 1:47 remaining in the first quarter.
- Fortunately, Rockford's Linzy Keller scored the final three points of the period, to make it a 10-5 Inferno lead heading into the second.
- The Inferno lead hovered around seven points until midway through the second quarter. Alverno then scored the next ten points to take a 28-11 lead with just over three minutes remaining in the first half.
- Rockford and Alverno traded baskets over the final three minutes, as the Regents entered the half trailing 32-15.
- Unfortunately, things did not get any better for Rockford over the final 20 minutes. The Regents were outscored 35-20 in the second half and Alverno went on to win by a final score of 67-35.
- Linzy Keller finished with a team-high 11 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
- Emily Cox added 8 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals.
The Rockford University women's basketball team returns to the court on Saturday, January 25 at Illinois Tech. Tip-off is set for 4:15 PM.
