AURORA, Ill. - The Regents women's volleyball team (2-13, 0-5 NACC) fell 3-0 on the road to the NACC leading Aurora University Spartans (11-6, 5-0 NACC). Although Rockford put up a tough fight, Aurora proved to be too much down the stretch. The Spartans finished with 45 kills compared to 23 for Rockford en route to a 25-16, 25-12, 25-16 victory.
- The match got off to a hotly-contested start, with each team leading at multiple points early on.Â
- Della Crain tallied the first two kills for Rockford, to put her team out in front 3-2. The set continued to go back and forth until the Regents used a 2-0 run, capped off by a Brynn Atwell ace, to tie the set at 6-6.Â
- However, the Spartans promptly went on a 4-1 run of their own, to take a 10-7 lead.
- Fortunately, Rockford responded with back-to-back kills from Della Crain and Nicole Eggers to pull within one, at 10-9.Â
- The two teams continued to trade points until very late in the set. With Aurora still holding a slim 19-15 lead, the Spartans scored six of the final seven points to take the opening set 25-16.
- The second set had a similar feel to it early on, with Aurora holding a slight 4-3 lead.Â
- However, the Spartans would then use a 4-0 run to grab a quick 8-3 advantage.Â
- Rockford continued to fight and was able to pull back within three points at 11-8. Nicole Eggers and Melody Moreno led the charge for the Regents with two and one kills respectively.Â
- Unfortunately, Aurora promptly went on an 11-1 run en route to taking the second set 25-12 and grabbing a 2-0 lead.Â
- The third set got off to a difficult start for the Regents, as Aurora scored 12 of the first 13 points.Â
- Unfortunately, the Regents were never able to get any closer than seven points the remainder of the way, as Aurora took the third set 25-16 and the match 3-0.

The RU women's volleyball team hits the road on Friday, October 8 for a pair of matches at St. Norbert College. The Regents are set to play the Green Knights at 4 PM, followed by a 6 PM match against UW-Stout.Â
