ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team (2-2) lost despite a first half lead in a tough match against the University of Dubuque (2-0) on Tuesday night. The Regents started off playing well leading in the first three quarters, but struggled against a tough Dubuque press and fourth quarter offense that ended up costing them the game.
Anaya Davis was a force throughout however, putting up 20 points and securing 15 rebounds to carry the Regents. Dubuque mounted a strong comeback to keep the Spartan's season perfect with a final score of 58-47.
- Rockford had one of the strongest starts of the season in this game, going up 11-3 in the first four minutes of play.
- The Regents traded points the remainder of the first quarter to bring the score to 20-11.
- Dubuque took advantage the first part of the second quarter, pulling within four points at 24-20, but Rockford stepped up, and created an 8-2 run of its own, pulling away to end the half 32-22.
- It was a slow start to the second half, going over two and a half minutes without a basket to start play, until Dubuque struck first.
- It was a tough rest of the quarter for the Regents, giving up a total of 18 points to bring hope back to the Spartans bench. Dubuque tied the game at 39, but Rockford still carried the lead 41-40 going into the final quarter of play.
- The final quarter was all Dubuque, putting up another 18 points to build a lead throughout the quarter.
- Roshanda Stevens, Anaya Davis, and Kiara Stevens combined for six points for the Regents in the quarter, not enough to counter the Spartans offense.
- Anaya Davis got the final points of the game, but Rockford wouldn't be able to overcome the deficit, losing by eleven, 58-47.
- Anaya Davis had a monster double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds, both team-highs. Davis has had double-digit point totals in all 4 games so far this season, and it is her second double-double of the season.
- Audrina Terhune kept her double-digit points streak alive as well, scoring 12 points and recording 5 assists.
- Makayla Ashford had 2 blocks and a steal off the bench for the Regents.

The RU women's basketball team will play at home once again this Saturday as the Regents get set to take on Principia College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2pm at the Seaver Center.
