FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Rockford University softball team won its third straight game via an 8-1 victory early Tuesday morning against Anna Maria College. The Regents scored six runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back. Rockford University pitchers

Rylee Klema were once again brilliant inside the circle. The duo combined to allow no earned runs and just two hits in the game. The win moves the Regents to 4-1 on the year with three games remaining on their Florida spring trip.
- Rockford came out of the gates on fire, scoring six runs off five hits in the top of the first inning.
- After two quick outs to start the game, the Regents' next seven batters reached base. Kariana Williams and Makaya Howard drove in the first two runs of the game on RBI singles. Lauren Zielinski followed with a 2-run single to make it a 4-0 RU lead. Olivia Lysaght knocked in the final run of the inning on an RBI single through the left side of the infield, which also got by the left fielder allowing an additional run to score.
- The score remained the same until the bottom of the third when Anna Maria plated an unearned run off just one hit to tighten the score to 6-1.
- Rockford was able to get that run back in the fifth and one more in the sixth. Emily Down got things going with a leadoff double in the fifth and then later scored on an Enedy Perez sacrifice fly. In the sixth, it was Jocelyn Callahan who manufactured Rockford's final run of the game. Callahan singled, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout and then scored on a Bella Lima RBI single back up the middle.
- The eight runs were more than enough for the RU pitching duo of Mariah Martinez and Rylee Klema. The two combined to allow just one unearned run and two hits in the game.
- Martinez went the first three innings allowing just the one unearned run off two hits and was able to work her way out of a couple of early jams. Klema went the final four innings, allowing no runs or hits and helped lead the Regents to the 8-1 win.
- Bella Lima finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Emily Down was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and 2 runs scored.
- Rylee Klema threw the final 4 innings to earn her first win of the season. Klema allowed no runs, no hits and struck out 2 in her first appearance of the year.
- Mariah Martinez tossed the first 3 innings of the game. Martinez surrendered just 1 unearned run off 2 hits.
