Bell Scores 1,000th Point But the Regents Can't Overcome the Buccaneers

ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University men's basketball team fell to the Beloit College Buccaneers 78-53 at the Seaver Center on Tuesday evening.

Jaden Bell paced the Regents in scoring, putting up 17 points. Those 17 vaulted Bell into the 1,000 club, now totaling 1,001 career points. He, Cooper Jackson, Luke Stuckey, and Donovan Grunloh all tallied 5 rebounds, while Kamren Hogan led the team with 6.

It was an ideal start to the game for Rockford. They jumped out to a 15-4 lead after the first eight minutes, off the back of multiple open layups.

Beloit couldn't find their footing early, but after falling down 11 they reeled off a 26-11 run to end the half and take a 30-26 lead.

After a competitive first half, the second half was anything but. The Buccaneers shot the lights out, going 16-28 (57.1%) from the floor and 6-14 (42.9%) from three.

Anthony Carter led the game in scoring with 20, while 11 total Buccaneers scored in the game.

The Regents couldn't keep up with Beloit's shooting, losing the second half 48-27 and eventually the game 78-53.

Men's basketball will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 3, when they face off against Edgewood University in the second game of a double-header.
