BELOIT, Wis. -- The Rockford University women's basketball team lost to non-conference opponent, Beloit College, 70-61 on Friday.
Katie Paredes had a game-high 23 points to lead Rockford offensively.
Te Simpson and
Nia Wilkerson also got involved offensively for the Regents, scoring 17 and 16 points, respectively.
Theresa McCarver had a game-high 10 rebounds, while also scoring five points.
The first quarter was a struggle for the Regents on the offensive end as they trailed 14-10 at the end of the first.
In the second quarter, Rockford got off to a solid 5-1 start to tie the game at 15-15, in what was a tight ball game for much of the first half until Beloit closed the half on a 9-0 run to take a 30-19 lead at halftime.
In the third and fourth quarters, the Buccaneers started to pull away as they built their lead to 17 points at 57-40 in the fourth quarter with 7:07 remaining.
The Regents, however, fought hard and responded with an 8-0 run, but unfortunately for the Regents, the lead the Buccaneers built was too much to overcome, as turnovers were a big factor in the game.
Rockford had 20 turnovers while Beloit had just 9.
On the evening, the Regents shot 40.8% and 33.3% from downtown.
The Regents will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 5, when they will travel to face NACC conference opponent Concordia University Chicago at 2 p.m. CST.
