MEQUON, Wis. - The Rockford University softball team was swept on the road Saturday afternoon by the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons. The Regents were one-hit in the opener, but played better in the nightcap. Rockford and Concordia Wisconsin were tied in the third inning of game two, but unfortunately, the Regents just could not keep up with second-best offense in the conference. The Falcons went on to win the opener 9-0 and the nightcap 7-2, to extend their winning streak in the series to seven games.
Game 1
- Concordia Wisconsin homered twice in the bottom of the first inning, including the leadoff batter, take a 5-0 advantage.
- The Falcons continued their scoring spree in the bottom of the second. CUW plated three more runs, two of which were unearned, to extend its lead to 8-0.
- CUW tacked on an insurance run off a home run in the top of the fourth to make it a 9-0 game.
- Unfortunately, Rockford had just one hit by Chayton Krueger in the game and eventually fell 9-0 in five innings.
Game 2
- Game two was much closer than the opener, but CUW still scored in every inning except the first.
- The Falcons struck first on an RBI groundout in the bottom of the second to take a 1-0 lead.
- Fortunately, Rockford responded with a single run off three hits in the top of the third to tie the game.
- Jocelyn Callahan and Kariana Williams each singled to put runners on the corners with two outs. The Regents then executed a double-steal to perfection to score a run and tie the game at 1-1.
- However, the Falcons hit right back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. The first run came off a home run and the other was unearned later in the frame.
- CUW tacked on another run in the fourth on a wild pitch to extend its lead to 4-1.
- The Regents scored their final run of the day in the top of the fifth. Jocelyn Callahan drew a leadoff walk, then stole second, and then advanced to third on a dropped third strike. One batter later, Callahan scored on a Kariana Williams sacrifice fly to cut the Falcon lead down to 4-2.
- Unfortunately, CUW added a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth en route to taking the nightcap 7-2 and sweeping the doubleheader.
