MADISON, Wis. -- The Rockford University women's basketball team fell to NACC conference opponent Edgewood University, 78-35, on Saturday.
Te Simpson and
Nia Wilkerson both scored in double figures with 18 and 13, respectively. Simpson, who came back from injury, led the Regents on the glass with seven rebounds.
Rockford kept it close early, trailing 15-10 at the end of the first quarter.
Simpson made a jump shot to start the second quarter on the first possession for the Regents, but Edgewood then scored in bunches to go on a 12-0 run. The momentum did not stop for the Eagles, as they built a 41-20 lead at halftime, outscoring the Regents 26-10 in the quarter.
It was a struggle for the Regents the rest of the way, scoring just 15 points in the second half.
On the afternoon, turnovers and shooting struggles hurt the Regents, who shot just 25.67% and gave the ball away 19 times.
The Regents will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 11, when they will play at Aurora University in NACC action at 5 p.m. CST.
