Baseball Dominates Haverford to Close Out Spring Trip

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Rockford University baseball team finished off their spring break trip with a single game against the Haverford College Fords on Friday afternoon. The Regents were in control from the jump, beating the Fords 12-2 in seven innings.

The Regents will return to action on Wednesday, March 18, to take on UW-Parkside at 11 a.m. CDT at Regent Field.

Rockford 12, Haverford 2

The Regents had four batters with multiple hits. Blaise Mace was 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBIs. Kadin Bergstrom went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, three of which came off of a homer in the third inning. Ryan Stary was a perfect 3-for-3, with a double and two RBIs. Nate Burdin also contributed two singles.

Alex Easton was stellar once again on the bump. He shut out the Fords in five innings, giving up four hits and striking out four. Nick Rich closed out the game in the seventh, going three up, three down to end it.

It didn't take long for Rockford to put a run on the board. Mace homered to right field to lead off for RU. A Zach Fabis sac fly to center brought QJ Mangelsen home to put the Regents up 2-0 after one.

They kept it going in the bottom of the second. Bergstrom drove Stary in with a single to left field, and scored himself off of a Fabis single to right. The score was 4-0 heading into the third.

The doors blew off in the third inning. Stary and Mace each had RBI singles to start the inning, then Bergstrom tattooed a three-run shot to left field to put Rockford up 9-0.

Another Stary single up the middle drove in Burdin to make it 10-0 after four. Haverford finally scored two runs in the top of the sixth to make the score 10-2.

The Regents extended their lead back to ten in the bottom of the sixth. Burdin scored off of a wild pitch and then Zack Foreman brought David Wilhite home with a sac fly to left field.

Rich shut down the Fords in the seventh to give the Regents a 12-2 victory.
