The Regents will return to action tomorrow, March 9, against Skidmore College in a double-header at 9:00 a.m. and noon EDT.
Game One: Rockford 5, Pitt-Bradford 4
Trent Lawrence was 2-for-3 from the plate, with two doubles and two RBI.
Marcus Taylor went 2-for-4, driving in a run and while also stealing two bases.
Kadin Bergstrom stayed hot, going 2-for-4 with a double.
Zach Fabis got the start on the mound. He went four innings, holding Pitt-Bradford scoreless while giving up just three hits and striking out two.
Sidney Atkins closed the game, giving up one hit in the seventh and earning the save.
The Regents did most of their damage offensively in the top of the first. Fabis got the scoring started with a sacrifice fly to left, scoring
Blaise Mace from third. Taylor and Lawrence each drove in runs to put RU up 3-0.
Rockford tacked on two more runs, off of a Mace sac fly in the second and a Lawrence double in the fifth.
The Panthers got on the board first in the fifth inning, scoring off of a throwing error. They made things interesting in the sixth, putting up three runs to cut the Regent's lead to just one.Â
Atkins would shut them down in the bottom of the seventh to secure the game one victory, 5-4.
Game Two: Rockford 4, Pitt-Bradford 1
Kadin Bergstrom and
Marcus Taylor were once again big offensively in the second game. Bergstrom went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Taylor was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
Alex Easton was fantastic on the mound, throwing a complete game over the seven inning contest. He struck out seven and gave up one run off of six hits.
Much like the first game, the Regents did all of their damage in one inning. All four of their runs came in the third. Bergstrom was hit by pitch with bases loaded, and then Taylor drove in two runs with a double to left field. Bergstrom scored off of a
Trent Lawrence sac fly to finish off Rockford's scoring.
Pitt-Bradford was shut out until the top of the seventh. They went single, double, single to start the inning and put up their lone run of the game. Easton shut the door on the Panthers from there, walking away with his second win and the Regent's fourth on the year.
