Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball Falls to First Place Eagles

MADISON, Wis. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team fell 3-0 on the road Thursday evening to the first place Edgewood College Eagles. The Regents played better in each successive set, but were not quite able to break through in any of them (25-10, 25-17, 25-19). Rockford was able to get within a trio of points late in a set multiple times, but unfortunately, the Eagles proved to be too much for the Regents.

Recap Recap
  • Edgewood scored the first four points of the match en route to taking an early 10-5 lead.
  • However, the Regents rallied for three straight points to pull back within two at 10-8.
  • Unfortunately, things went downhill quickly from that point on. The Eagles proceeded to close the set on a 15-2 spurt and win the opening set 25-10.
  • The Eagles again got off to a fast start in the second set by grabbing a 10-4 advantage.
  • Fortunately, the Regents scored the next three points, capped off by an Alexx Burton kill, to cut Edgewood's lead in half.
  • With Rockford now trailing 20-14, the Regents used another 3-0 run to pull back to within three at 20-17.
  • However, the Eagles closed the set by scoring the final five points to take a commanding 2-0 lead.
  • Rockford got off to another slow start to begin the third set. This time the Eagles opened on a 10-2 run to seemingly take control of the match.
  • However, the Regents continued to battle and methodically chopped the Eagle advantage back down to three at 16-13. Melody Moreno, Grace Vyborny and Amelia Rodriguez all had a pair of kills over that stretch.
  • Unfortunately, the Eagles again closed the set strong, using a 9-6 run to secure the 3-0 victory.
