CHICAGO, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team picked up an exciting 71-69 double-overtime win on Saturday afternoon at Illinois Tech. Saturday's game was a hotly-contested matchup that featured an incredible 15 ties and 16 lead changes. Although the Scarlet Hawks outshot the Regents from the floor (40.0% to 34.2%), Rockford took 18 more shot attempts, thanks in large part to 16 offensive rebounds. The Regents also forced 28 Illinois Tech turnovers, which led to 20 Rockford points. The win give the Regents their fourth straight victory over the Scarlet Hawks.
- The first quarter was a back and forth affair with neither team leading by more than four points.
- Rockford opened the game with a three-point play by Kyla Wilkerson to give the Regents their largest lead of the period.
- The Scarlet Hawks responded with an 8-2 run of their own to take their first lead of the game.
- With Rockford now leading by one late in the period, the Scarlet Hawks scored the final five points to take a 15-11 advantage into the second quarter.
- Illinois Tech continued to maintain its lead until midway through the second, when Rockford scored 11 straight points to grab a 28-20 advantage. Katie Paredes and Audrina Terhune led the way with four points each over that span.
- Rockford would build its lead up to as many as nine, but Illinois Tech scored the final four points to trim the Regents' halftime lead to 30-25.
- Unfortunately, the Scarlet Hawks began the second half on a 10-3 spurt to once again retake the lead.
