ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team lost 3-0 (21-25, 15-25, 13-25) to the CUC Cougars on Saturday afternoon. The Regents competed hard with the Cougars, playing a close first set. Unfortunately, the momentum did not carry over for Rockford, as the team ultimately dropped the final two sets.
- The Regents stormed into a 7-3 lead to start the match. Five different Rockford players had a kill during the run.
- CUC came close to taking the lead shortly after, but Rockford was able to hold the Cougars, maintaining the lead.
- Concordia Chicago finally got its break at the 14-17 point, earning five-straight to take the lead 18-17 over Rockford.
- The Regents quickly bounced back, scoring four of the next five points to jump back in front 21-19.
- The Cougars responded again however, going on a 6-0 run to conclude the set and take the victory.
- Rockford had a rocky start to set two, going down 11-4.
- The two sides traded points until reaching 19-11. Nathan Vana led the Rockford offense with two kills during that run.
- CUC overwhelmed the Regents the remainder of the set, stringing together two runs to run away with the second set 25-15.
- The Regents and Cougars battled back-and-forth to start set three, working the score to 7-6 in CUC's favor.
- Concordia Chicago didn't hold back once again, going on a 13-4 run in the middle of the set to put the Cougars up by 10 at 20-10.
- Rockford salvaged a couple of points towards the end of the set, but ultimately fell in set three by a final score of 25-13.
