MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University women's basketball team crushed the Alverno College Inferno 83-38 on the road Wednesday evening. The Regents never trailed in the game and led by as many as 45 points en route to their largest margin of victory over the Inferno since the two schools joined the NACC in 2006. Rockford dominated every single statistical category, including shooting a season-high 55.1% from the floor and 53.3% from three-point range. Defensively, the Regents held the Inferno to just a 22.4% shooting performance, which includes a paltry 6.3% from beyond the arc. The win also moves Rockford into sole possession of the eighth and final spot in the NACC Tournament with only five games remaining.
- Rockford led wire-to-wire, including scoring the first seven points of the game. Nia Wilkerson scored five of those seven points, including draining a triple to give the Regents a 7-0 lead.
- A few minutes later, the Regents used a 10-0 run to make it a 17-2 game. Katie Paredes and Jocelyn Callahan each scored four points over that span.
- Rockford essentially put the game out of reach by outscoring the Inferno 15-1 in the second quarter. Six different Regents scored in the period, including four points from Grace Vyborny and Katie Paredes.
- However, it was the Rockford defense that did the heavy lifting. The Regents held the Inferno to an 0-12 shooting effort and forced 9 turnovers in the second quarter, to give Rockford a 35-9 lead heading into the half.
- Rockford continued to pour it on the Inferno in the third, never leading by less than 20 points in the period.
- At one point, the Regents went on a 13-0 run to take their largest lead thus far at 61-28. Rockford went a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor, led by five points from Grace Vyborny and Nia Wilkerson.
- The Regents never led by less than 30 the rest of the way. Allie Wintemute then put the exclamation point on the victory by scoring the final five points of the game, as Rockford coasted to an easy 83-38 win.
- Sixteen Regents played in the game, with Twelve of them scoring points.
- Nia Wilkerson finished with a game-high 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting. She also added 5 rebounds and 2 assists.
- Grace Vyborny had 11 points on a 5-of-6 shooting performance. She rounded out her stat line with 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
- Katie Paredes scored 10 points on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting effort. Paredes also added 3 assists and 2 rebounds.
- Tyra Clark tallied 9 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
- D'Asia Washington added 9 points and 4 rebounds.
