ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team won 68-59 in a Wednesday night NACC meeting with Marian University. The Regents never once trailed in the game and led by as much as 21 points, which they held for almost 5 minutes. Rockford was able to find great success from beyond the arc with a huge 34.4% - 17.6% advantage, cashing in 8 more threes than the Sabres. This allowed the Regents to walk away with the important win, still tied for 8th in the NACC standings with 3 games left to go
- The Regents got out to a quick 6-0 lead after back-to-back triples from Audrina Terhune and Lexi Keating.
- The Regents were able to take control of the quarter from the get-go with an 11-4 run and go up 17-4 halfway through the first quarter.Â
- The Sabres battled back slightly, cutting it to an 8-point 17-9 lead, but Rockford was able to stay on top and take a 21-10 into the second quarter.Â
- The Regents again got off to a good start in the quarter with a 12-4 run, a stretch in which Rockford shot 3-4 from beyond the arc, led by Emily Rich with 6 points.
- Rockford was again able to hold off the Marian attack and hold them to just 11 points for the second straight quarter to take a 43-22 advantage into the half.Â
- The Regents were able to keep a sizable lead between them and the Sabres for a majority of the quarter, but Marian was able to cut the lead to just 13 going into the second quarter to make it a 55-42 ball game.Â
- Marian was able to quickly cut the Regent lead to just 9 points, the smallest lead for Rockford since the first quarter, to make it a 57-48 score.Â
- The Regents were able to grab the momentum back with 4 straight points to give themselves a 61-48 lead and despite another last sprung effort by Marian, Rockford was able to cash-in from the charity stripe when needed and finish the game with a 68-59 win.Â
- Audrina Terhune provided 15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and added a block.
- Grace Vyborny picked up her second double-double of the season with 10 points and a season-high 12 rebounds, also picking up 2 blocks, 2 assists and 1 steal.
- Emily Rich had 15 points, coming off 5 made threes, 1 off her season-high.Â
