GALESBURG, Ill. -- The Rockford University women's volleyball team swept non-conference opponent Knox on Tuesday evening. Set scores were 25-23, 25-18, 25-19.
Jalyn Rhodes planted nine kills to lead RU offensively, while
Isabella Valdes and
Leila Cooks both totaled double-digit assists with 17 and 12, respectively.
Ashley Miller compiled 23 digs, three aces, and was in on two blocks.
Keara Ross had 15 digs.
Rockford edged out Knox in the first set, as the largest lead was three after a 3-0 start from the Prairie Fire. Rhodes sealed it for the Regents in the first with a kill, which Valdes assisted on after a back-and-forth set.
Knox and RU were competitive in the second set, tied at 16-16, until RU exploded offensively to go on a 9-2 scoring run.
The third set was similar to the second, tied at 17-17, the Regents pulled away on an 8-2 run to complete the sweep.
The Regents will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 9, with a 7 p.m. CDT NACC match at Dominican University.
