GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Rockford University men's volleyball team lost to non-conference opponent Calvin University, 3-0, in the final match of the Calvin University Invite. Set scores were 25-15, 25-15, 25-22.
Jordan Hurst made nine kills and was active defensively with two blocks and five digs.
Tsubasa Namai led Rockford in assists and digs with 19 and six respectively.
Josh Bowling, Namai, and Hurst, all tallied two blocks and
Tucker Loegler Haig smashed an ace.
Rockford kept it close early until the Knights outscored the Regents 7-2 to extend their lead to 17-11. The momentum did not stop for the Knights as they ended up winning the first set by 10.
Calvin got off to a hot start in the second set to jump out to an 11-3 lead. The set was never close, as the Knights won again by double digits.
In the third and final set, the Regents could not get over the top. Even in the tightly competitive third set, the Regents never had the lead as the Knights were able to complete the sweep.
The Regents will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 19, when they will face NACC conference opponent, Concordia University Chicago at 7 p.m. CST in the Seaver Center.
