ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team dropped its home match 3-0 to the Aurora University Spartans on Wednesday night. After competing well at the start of the first two sets of the competition, Rockford could not compete with the Aurora offensive, dropping all three sets to a tough Spartans team.
- Rockford got the ball rolling early as the Regents stepped into the lead, building up to a score of 10-9. Nathan Vana led the early charge with three kills during the run and Isaiah Dixon had two.
- A 7-4 run by the Spartans gave them their first lead of the match since the 1-0 mark, bringing the score to 16-14.
- Aurora kept up the run and dominated the remaining set, capturing a 9-1 run to close out the first set 25-15. Isaiah Dixon added to his kill totals, adding one more as part of the lone Rockford point during that run.
- Rockford stepped out in front to start set two as well, battling to a 6-5 lead.
- Aurora took back the lead and kept the Regents at a distance, building an 11-8 run to take a 16-14 lead.
- The Spartans made short work for the remainder of the set, polishing it off with a 9-6 run and slamming the door on set two, 25-20. Nathan Vana led the Regents on offense over the course of the set, earning three kills.
- The Regents got off to a slow start in set number three, going down 7-1 to open.
- Rockford eventually got the offense going, earning its own 9-5 run to pull within two points at 12-10. Joseph Hinckley led the charge with three kills.
- Aurora propelled forward, diminishing any Regent momentum. The Spartans carried out a 13-2 run to finish the final set and take the victory 25-12.
- Nathan Vana led the Regents in kills with 8. He added 4 digs.
- Isaiah Dixon had 7 kills and an ace.
- Josh Albers finished with 23 assists, an ace, and the only Regents block of the evening. He also had 3 digs.
- Joaquin Santillan had the team-high in digs with 7 while earning 2 kills.
