Lee Carley's coaching career at Rockford College spanned 35 years (from 1966 through 2001), as he was involved with five of the Regents' programs. Carley also served as a professor of biology during his tenure at Rockford. 

Carley began his Rockford coaching career as an assistant with basketball for four seasons (1966-70). Concurrently, he was also an assistant baseball coach until 1972 when he took over as the head coach. Carley then served as the head softball coach for three seasons (1981-83) and took his team to the 1981 NAIA National Tournament. 

From 1987 to 1991, he was an assistant coach with the Rockford men's soccer program. Carley as assisted with the inaugural women's soccer team in 1991. From 1992-2001, he was the head women's soccer coach and established the program as a NIIC power.
